Llamamiento urgente por la vida del condenado a muerte John Lezell Balentine
Según la policía J. L. Balentine, que tiene 40 años en la actualidad, confesó haber matado a tres jóvenes y fue condenado a muerte en 1999. El juicio se desarrolló de manera precipitada sin contar con un buen abogado defensor y con la única acusación de un testigo.
Después de 10 años en el corredor de la muerte, John ha finalizado todos los recursos posibles y por lo tanto su ejecución está fijada el próximo 22 de agosto.

Urgent appeal brought out by the Community of Sant’Egidio Dear Governor Excellency I am writing to express my deep concern over a ruling that sentenced to death Mr. John Lezell Balentine, in spite of only one witness against him full of contradictions, that could be easily rebutted if the defendant had proper financial means to hire a strong legal defence and so to be able to re-open his trial. I urge you to intervene on his behalf to prevent this cruel and inhuman punishment from being meted out against him. I implore you to ensure that this cruel and inhuman sentence is not carried out.
